The User Interface Explained

There are 4 sections to the Hoop Book Live program.

  1. Team Information Boxes and scoreboard
    1. At the top and center of the program is the scoreboard. Here the user can see the score, possession arrow and the current quarter. To change the quarter, select the up arrow next to the current quarter.
    2. In both upper corners is the team information boxes. Here the user can enter timeouts and coach/bench technical fouls, and see total teams fouls.
      1. To enter a timeout, click on the appropriate bubble and enter the game time that the timeout was taken.
      2. To enter a coach technical or bench technical  select the up arrow next to the “C” or “B” in the technical’s section.
  2. The Game Event Log
    1. Located on the right hand side, the game event log records every entry that the scorekeeper makes. Events are organized by entry time along with the appropriate team and quarter. The description column gives details of then entry. The team column indicates which team the event is recorded under, and the quarter shows what quarter the event took place in.
    2. In the case of error, at the top of the game event log there is a undo button. Selecting the false entry and selecting the undo button at the top of the game log nullifies the entry. However, as an added feature, HBL does not delete the entry completely. If an entry is undone it becomes highlighted in red. This prevents cheating and in the case of any discrepancies, the game log can be consulted.
  3. “In Game” Players Section
    1. In the middle of the screen is the players section. Here the user manages the players that are in the game.
      1. To add fouls: Click on the appropriate bubble and enter the game time the foul occurred.
      2. To add points: Click on either the +2 or +3 buttons. After selecting the button the score is updated automatically.
      3. Quarters: Quarters are updated automatically. Once the player is dragged into the game his/her quarter appeared box will be automatically updated to correspond to the current quarter.
      4. Substitutions: To make a substitution select a player form the bench, click and drag them onto the player on the floor that they are being substituted for.
  4. Bench
    1. At the bottom of the screen is the bench. Here you will find every player on the roster.
      1. Substitutions: To make a substitution select a player form the bench, click and drag them onto the player on the floor that they are being substituted for.
      2. Viewing Player Fouls/Points/Quarters: To see home points, fouls, or quarters that a player appeared in hover over the players square with the mouse. A pop up box will appear giving the appropriate information.
      3. Quarter Appearances: Next to the players name and number are 4 small boxes. These indicate what quarters the player has appeared in.
      4. Foul Colors: To indicate if a player on the bench is in foul trouble the players square may turn green or red.
        1. Green = 3 fouls
        2. Red = 4 fouls
        3. Grey = the player has fouled out
