We understand that the scorebook method hasn’t been updated in decades and there are some people that have concerns about making a change.
Below is a list of concerns some people have had before making the switch to HBL and how we have designed Hoop Book to make the experience an easy transition.
If you only see the 10 players on the floor on the screen, how can I find out how many fouls my bench players have?
- By simply mousing over the bench player's icon/number you will be able to access that player's foul and point totals plus the quarters he or she appeared in.
My scorekeeper has been using the book for years. Will it be difficult for him to learn the program?
- We guarantee that it won't take more than 10 minutes s but try it free for yourself.
Is Hoop Book Live a statistic program?
- No. HBL only records what is included in the scorebook (points, fouls, timeouts, quarters, etc..).
What are the system requirements in order to run HBL?
- HBL runs on both Mac and PC's. It is compatible with Mac OS X, Windows XP and Vista.
What if my computer freezes during a game? Do we loose the game data?
- No. HBL instantly saves each game entry. If your computer freezes and you need to restart, you can reopen your game without worrying about loosing any data.
What if the scorekeeper makes a mistake? Can they undo the error?
- Of coarse. At the top of the game event log there is an undo button. Selecting the false entry and selecting the undo button nullifies the entry. However, as an added feature, HBL does not delete the entry completely. If an entry is undone it becomes highlighted in red. This prevents cheating and in the case of any discrepancies, the game log can be consulted.
Can I view the normal scorebook during the game?
- Yes. In the bottom right corner there is a button that allows the scorekeeper view a filled in scorebook as of that point in the game.
Where are the reports that HBL generates saved?
- After every game the PDF reports will be saved to your desktop in a folder entitled "Hoop Book Live Reports". From there you can email and print as many copies as you wish.
